In the famouse house at the Getreidegasse nr. 9 Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born in January 1756. Together with his sister “Nannerl” and his parents he lived in this house until 1773. Nowadays a museum is located there that is open all year long.

The castle has been built in the year 1077 by the archbishop of Salzburg. It is the talles complete extanted castle in Central Europe and was built as a protection of the archbishops. Furthermore the castle was used as barracks building and prision.

This phantastic palace park provides a pure variety in summer as well as in winter. Between 1612 and 1615 the archbishop Markus Sittikus orderd the building of this pleasure palace. The architect Santino Solari did so following italian examples.
